1. SCORING Put a mark down every time the player hits the ball. If the player misses a ball (whiff), count
one stroke each time it is missed. Total the marks for the hole and write the total under the appropriate hole.
(Remind players that only one practice swing is to be taken--away from the ball.)
3, 5, and 9 holers are encouraged to count each stroke out loud to the other players and
announce their lie before putting. It is the marshal’s job to make sure it is being done correctly.
2. TEE Players identify their balls. (Write the ball next to the players’ names, so you can help them keep track
of their own balls.) The player with the lowest score on the previous hole drives first and the highest last.
3 holers tee up at the red tees or 100 yard markers, whichever is closer.
5 holers play the red tees or 150 yard markers, whichever is closer.
9 and 14 holers play the red tees.
18 holers play the gold tees for the girls, and the blue tees for the boys.
3. FAIRWAYS Player furthest from the hole hits first.
4. PUTTING To speed up play, player closest to the hole putts first and continues until in the hole. (Players
should remove the pin before putting.)
5. RULES
OUT OF BOUNDS - If the ball is out of bounds, beyond the white markers or fences, player hits another ball
from where the original ball was hit. PENALTY - Stroke and distance. (Count both times the ball was hit from
the original spot and add 1 stroke for the penalty, ie. the player ends up hitting the ball twice and incurs a one
stroke penalty for a total of three strokes.)
SAND TRAP - 3-hole and 5-hole golfer may lift out after 3 trys, placing the ball no closer to the hole.
LOST BALL - If the ball is not found within five minutes, player hits another ball from where the original was
hit. PENALTY - Stroke and distance. (Count both times the ball was hit and add one stroke penalty. If the original
ball is found after the second ball is hit, the player must continue to play the second ball.)
