MUGHUNTER RULES
Please discuss these golf rules with your child during Mughunter week. We are hoping to encourage good golf etiquette, as well as good sportsmanship. Thank you!
2. Before you take a practice swing, make sure everyone is clearly out of the way and that you are well away from your own golf ball. 3. Take only ONE practice swing before stepping up to hit your ball. If you swing at the ball and miss it, add one stroke to your score and try again. 4. Replace your divots carefully. Repair any marks your ball makes on the green. 5. Before you hit a shot, check to make sure that you are hitting your own ball. Do not pick up the ball. Just look at it carefully. 6. Be sure to be quiet while other players are hitting. You should try to avoid talking, making noise, or moving when anyone is preparing to hit a shot. 7. Don’t take practice swings or lay clubs down in the sand trap. Be sure to rake the sand when you’re finished. The three hole golfers and the five hole golfers may lift the ball from the trap, and place it no closer to the hole, AFTER taking 3 shots in the trap. 8. Normally, the person farthest from the green hits first, but when you reach the green, the person closest to the pin putts first, and continues to putt for as many shots as needed to get the ball in the hole. This is done to speed play. The eighteen holes group will follow the USGA rules. 9. When on the green, do not putt if the pin is still in the hole. You may either take the pin out, or ask someone to hold it ready to pull out if your putt comes close. Add a 1 stroke penalty if you hit the pin when you are putting on the green. 10. When the match is over, the losing player should always go over to the winner to shake hands and say, “Congratulations.” Please note these additional rules:
The New Mughunter Creed: As a Mughunter I will:
· do my best to count my score as accurately as possible. If my score on a hole is in question, I will try to recount it as soon as possible and come to an agreement with my opponent. · do my best to keep track of my score and my opponents score on my card. · treat the golf course with respect. · use only appropriate language and behavior on the golf course.
I , understand that if I do not follow the Mughunter Creed, the possibility exists that I may lose a hole to my opponent, lose the entire match, or be disqualified from the tournament.
